Speech Therapy and Debt Consolidation. 1

Speech Therapy and Debt Consolidation.

Rosie has her speech evaluation tomorrow at our local elementary school. I’m kind of nervous!  I wonder what it will entail.  Rosie is nervous too, more so than I am. She has trouble saying her R’s.  They are like W’s.  She also can’t say the letter J, she says a D sound instead.  Like “dam” for “jam” or “poil” for “pearl”.  “Girl” sounds like “gal”.  She’s improving slightly as she gets older, but she still has such a baby voice compared to her peers. ...

Sad. 6

Sad.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me.  I feel sad lately.  Weary. Depressed maybe? I want to be pregnant SO BADLY.  Yet I’m not.  Everyone else I know is pregnant or just had a baby.  Even my best friend is pregnant now.  I am overjoyed for her.  I love talking about pregnancy with her.  I am extremely excited to find out if her baby is a boy or a girl, what the baby’s name will be, the baby’s personality, everything.  I just wish I could shut off...

The Birth of an Egg. 0

The Birth of an Egg.

Ever wondered how chickens lay eggs?  Here’s an up close and personal video of Rosie’s favorite little hen Jenny laying an egg.  Jenny is an OEGB, or an Old English Game Bantam. I highly recommend them as pet chickens for kids or small spaces.  Cute, friendly, and small.  You just use two eggs in place of one since their eggs are smaller. See the egg crowning and popping out…!  I have no idea why she was on the water dish and not in...

Chicks meet the outside. 1

Chicks meet the outside.

My daffodils are blooming a month early.  I’m not about to complain! We took our chicks outside into the grass for the first time yesterday.  They were not particularly impressed, preferring to be held and hide under us more than anything. They may be a wee bit spoiled. :) This is Minnie Pearl.  Tractor Supply had a sign up saying she is a Barred Rock, but she doesn’t have the white spot on her head like Barred Rock chicks should. I asked...

Backyard.

I had to switch antibiotics for my sinus infection because I couldn’t swallow the Augmentin. I kept cutting it into four pieces and it was making me really sick at my stomach and making me poo way too much. I would start getting sick about 15 minutes after taking it every time.  Yuck.  They gave me a Z-Pack instead, but by the time they sent in the prescription and I picked it up, it took a day in between before I got to start taking it. ...

Happenings.

Ada accidentally took a nap yesterday. She usually doesn’t nap because that means she will stay up until after midnight, and I will do anything to keep that from happening.  Saturday and Sunday are the only days of the week I get Tyler at home in the evening.  I don’t like to waste those nights. We like to talk without small children screaming.  Maybe watch some TV together.  Or you know…other adult things. Anyway, Ada accidentally napped for three hours yesterday afternoon.  She woke...

Green. 2

Green.

Mother Nature decided today could be spring-like.  Thankfully! Rosie decided that today could be a Little House on the Prairie day.  She got so angry when I kept forgetting to call her Mary.  She also insisted that I dress as Ma, which includes wearing my Ma bonnet. At one point the dog got out and ran down the road, and I chased her wearing my bonnet.  I totally forgot it was on.  The rest of the world wasn’t celebrating Little House on the Prairie...

Today. 1

Today.

People are so funny. Tonight Tyler and I were talking about all of the comments we get when parenting or lifestyle choices come up in casual conversation and we started laughing and couldn’t stop.  Especially comments from people at Tyler’s work–they are so confused about our non-mainstream choices sometimes. They say things not to be rude, but out of genuine confusion.  I guess it’s really not that funny, but at the same time it’s hilarious to us.  It doesn’t offend me or anger...

Finalizing Homeschooling Plans. (Lots of links!) 9

Finalizing Homeschooling Plans. (Lots of links!)

I have to share…indescribably adorable little fluffballs! See their brand new wing feathers growing in?  I love watching chicks feather out more and more each day.  Their heads are the last part to get fully feathered. Over the past few days I’ve been thinking more about homeschooling and what path we’ll follow. The vast unknown causes me a bit of anxiety, so I decided I needed to write out a concrete plan.  I read all of Maria Montessori’s books, and I wrote down important things...
