Oh.

Giving away pieces of your heart unconditionally is dangerous. And hard. And painful. Very, very painful. Mariana has such difficult behaviors. First there was the aggression–biting, hitting, pinching, punching, grabbing things roughly. Breaking things on purpose. Destructive. The bedwetting. Nightly. Sometimes pooping in her underwear and hiding it. Refusal to eat anywhere except at our house. (And at first, not even at home, or at all!) Outright fear of strangers. Refusing to go into someone else’s home, instead standing outside and...

The News.

The world is really getting me down lately. What a sad time it seems to be these days. Ukraine is at war with Russia. Families are being killed in the east, caught in crossfire. All of the capital city Kyiv will be without hot water and possibly heat until October or later. It’s cold in Ukraine in October. This is due to the gas shortage and the country’s debt. They’ve announced that orphanages will no longer be funded, all staff except...

The cabin posts are coming!

Now that things are settled with the cabin drama I’m going to post a back log of posts from my private blog over the next few days as I get time. (Hopefully right now if my children don’t stop happily playing!) I couldn’t really post about things publicly before, since so many people read this and anyone can find it on Google. If you see a huge amount of backdated posts from me this is why!  The whole debacle is somewhat...

Lawyer Up, Buttercup.

I don’t even know what to say. I feel speechless. (You might know I don’t feel speechless very often…) Jaw dropped, mouth flapping open, drooling out of the corner of my mouthspeechless. My landlords at the cabin are honest to God insane. I mean really, I don’t know what is wrong with them. I can’t even begin to guess what in the world they are thinking. You all have followed along with this entire Cabin debacle, right? From the beautiful outdoors,...

Lacking. 0

Lacking.

I’m having such a hard time adjusting to living here. We live downtown in a town of about 30,000 people. There are always people walking around outside on my street. No privacy. People here aren’t nearly as friendly as the last community we lived in, which is a little more than an hour away. It’s so noisy. My neighbors talk and yell all night long. They have barking dogs that are louder than my own barking dogs, and the most annoying...

Be not deceived…

I promise I am trying not to dwell on this, but Facebook keeps showing me things from my landlords in my news feed. I should just delete them from my friends. I can’t though, I’m too nosey. Last night I was driving down the road lamenting the fact that they are incredibly hypocritical, yet they can just get away with it. It’s not fair! They pastor a church, their church followers seem to just love them. My landlord even posted on...

Refrigerator-less. 0

Refrigerator-less.

Yesterday (Wednesday) morning when I woke up I realized the refrigerator light wasn’t on. It wasn’t running either. You know how you get used to the hum of things, like appliances. When they are silent then it is suddenly Very Quiet. Some things in the freezer had already begun to defrost a bit, they were getting a coat of white frost on the outsides of the packages. This makes me think it must have died during the night early on. I...

Nope, Nope, Nope. 0

Nope, Nope, Nope.

The renters are moving into the house we own in town this weekend. In some ways it’s a relief to have that over and done with, and funny to think of someone else living in our home! I would never want to move back there, ever, so I’m not sad in the least. I wish we could have sold it. Other houses in the area were selling for $97,000. We bought our house for $112,000 in 2007 and in 2009 it...

PS: My Life is Ridiculous.

Whew. Well first off let me assure you that I am writing to you from a cabin complete with a running refrigerator. How that refrigerator arrived here is another story. This morning, as I was trying to feed my children breakfast without the use of any refrigerated foods, the landlady and I had a bit of words during which I informed her that they absolutely could not rent out this cabin to anyone else without making major repairs, and that we...

7 Days!

My insurance woes continue. They sent us two letters in the mail this week. One listed Tyler, Amy, Rosie, and Ada as covered by insurance from September 17th, 2012 to January 1st, 2013.  (Yay!!) The second letter listed Tyler, Amy, Rosie, and Ada as covered by insurance from January 2013 to January 2014.  (More yay!) Tyler called them to double check that my issues had been resolved since they never gave him the confirmation phone call they’d promised.  The lady on...
