Ada is so very close to walking.
She can pull up, glide along, and she lets go and just stands there. The other day she took two steps on her own, from the desk cabinet to the piano right behind her, because she saw Tyler start playing the piano. Without a thought she ran for it because she wanted to bang on the keys too. Tyler and I both saw it. We were like, DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?
She can also walk across the house with her push walker that Santa brought.
Oh baby, stop growing up so fast!
At 8 months and 3 weeks old she has six teeth. Two top teeth and one next to them, two bottom teeth and one next to those. She’s got the fourth top tooth breaking through right now, I can feel ridges under the gums. Unlike Rosie, Ada is a fairly easy teether…no screaming for hours, just lots of drool and hyperactivity. She’s almost slap happy. But hey, I’ll take that over screaming for hours any day. The only downside is teething Ada seems to need no sleep. She keeps herself awake and busy, I guess to be distracted from the pain.
I weighed and measured Ada today.
She’s 19 pounds, about 27 inches (she was wiggling so much!), and her head is about 18 inches around.
That means since birth she’s gained 11 pounds and grown 7 inches in height. I don’t remember her head circumference at birth and I’m too lazy to look it up at the moment.
She’s dropped a naptime. Now Ada Who Needs No Sleep wakes up between 7 and 8 in the morning. She naps from around 12 to 1. Then she goes to bed at between 7 and 8 at night. She nurses most of the night and wakes up often, she sleeps for only a few hours at a time if that. I always try sneaking away and leaving her in bed, but right now she wakes up within five minutes of me getting up. When Rosie did that I got so depressed and frustrated. But this time I know it will pass, it’s just a phase and I should enjoy the snuggling while it lasts. Rosie now sleeps all night almost every night in her own bed with no problem. Ada will be happy to sleep unglued from my body one day in the next few years. I’m enjoying reading my Kindle in bed at night while she’s glued to me. I can also crochet in bed, play the Wii or Playstation 3, listen to music, and surf the interwebz. Not too bad, especially considering Tyler isn’t at home most nights anyway since he’s at work until 3 in the morning.
Ada loves music just as much as Rosie does!
Oh and my new floors…loving them. I feel like I’m living in someone else’s house.
Here’s my bathroom. (Again, ignore construction dust…)
