Be not deceived…
I promise I am trying not to dwell on this, but Facebook keeps showing me things from my landlords in my news feed.
I should just delete them from my friends. I can’t though, I’m too nosey.
Last night I was driving down the road lamenting the fact that they are incredibly hypocritical, yet they can just get away with it. It’s not fair! They pastor a church, their church followers seem to just love them.
My landlord even posted on their church feed (an open group that FB shows me in my newsfeed apparently) that they had a call from a homeless family needing help, then in the comments he was able to help them and people are saying, “Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus!”
IF ONLY THEY KNEW THAT HE MADE US HOMELESS THROUGH HIS NEGLIGENCE!
Steaming over here.
My landlady posted asking for prayer that they sell their house (my cabin) this month and make enough profit to buy a new van. I think I told you all that.
There are so many other little things, like Landlady posting about how they are debt-free and so proud of it. Maybe if you had a credit card you could repair the cabin and not make me homeless, woman. When you sign a lease you agree to be responsible!
It’s just too much. How can they be like this? They think they have done nothing wrong at all. They have absolutely not a single crumb of remorse, they are not the least bit apologetic to us.
My landlord is a pastor and advertises himself as a life coach, plus he teaches Dave Ramsey courses about managing finances. He’s also a public speaker who goes to paid gigs as an “enthusiator” according to his bio.
I just want to scream. From the pulpit in his church.
I was thinking about all of that as I was driving back to the cabin to let my poor neglected dogs outside from being jailed in their crates. I was imagining ways to get revenge.
Then I glanced up and saw this random billboard I’ve never noticed before. It was solid colored with nothing but these words written on it in bold black type:
Be not deceived; God is not mocked
Uh…who pays to put that on a billboard with no other details?! Why?
When I stopped at a red light I googled it to find the rest of the verse.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Oh dear. Apparently I am so wrapped up in myself that God needed a billboard to get his point across.
I don’t need to get revenge. Yes, I’m still working with the health department and I still need my February rent and my deposit back, but I don’t need to trouble myself by screaming from their pulpit or slandering their reputation.
God is not mocked. He knows what they are doing, He sees what is in their hearts. (Which are clearly ten sizes too small…)
That billboard cannot be a coincidence.
(I have to take a picture of it and make it the background on my iPhone so I can stare at it.)
I feel a tiny bit better. Still steaming, but kind of relieved.
One day, somehow, they will get whatever karma they deserve for their rotten actions. God promised it to me from a huge billboard. ;)
