That time when you clean out your fridge, only to find the next morning that someone has carefully untied your trash bags and taken all of the old food out of your trash…
Yeah. That just happened here.
I feel sad.
I know it wasn’t an animal because it was neatly done, and some entire things were gone, like the box of old BBQ.
We live in small town Kentucky, you don’t really see homeless people here. There’s a homeless shelter a block away from my house that has a food bank. It’s small and not like a big professional set up you’d find in a city. Just locally volunteer run out of a small old building, which sometimes means lack of resources.
I guess there are still hungry people out walking around. So hungry they untied my trash bags.
The worst part is there’s no way I could safely offer these people food. Since my neighbors participate in illegal activities there are lots of cars in and out all the time. You never know who is going to be walking around outside of your house. The last thing I need is someone high on drugs to come in my house and rob me while I’m offering them food.
I have no idea if the trash eating people are the aforementioned high on drugs crowd or just someone down on their luck and desperate. Could be either one.
You have to be pretty desperate to eat old, hard as a rock pizza that’s been in a pizza box in my fridge for two weeks. (Shush, you know you get a back up of old food in your fridge too!)
And again, I’m back to sad. On drugs or not, it’s sad that someone would be that desperate in our little town.
