Took a Peek.
Today Rosie has the cold, and Henry is grumpy, Ada is grumpy, and I can’t stop pooping. Fun times!
I made a doctor appointment for 10:15 Monday morning. I can’t wait to talk to him. Unfortunately I still have to poop my way through the weekend before we get to Monday. Ugh.
I was laying in bed with Henry when I had a sudden thought.
What if I looked at my own poop under the microscope?
At first I thought it would be really gross. Because, well, poop.
Then I realized I’m going to have to give the doctor a stool sample anyway. What if I took a bit off of a piece of toilet paper and looked at it under our microscope out of curiosity?
So I did it.
I never actually touched the poop, reassure yourselves. I used a plastic fork and took a tiny piece off of the toilet paper, then put it in a saline mixture on the slide to make a wet mount.
I always knew biology class would pay off one day!
The microscope we have is a children’s one with plastic components. It’s called Tough Scope or something like that. I wasn’t sure if it would work well enough, so I set my hopes low.
But it did. It worked!
Not only did it work, I was also able to take a picture of the slide with my phone through the microscope lens.
Look what I found. I don’t think these things are supposed to be in there, according to my intensive google image searching and YouTube video watching education.
