I’m certain now.
Ok, one more entry with microscopic poop pictures ahead. Run for the hills if you don’t think this is super fascinating. (And also a bit horrifying that these creatures are INSIDE OF ME.)
Check this out. Here is a picture of giardia under a low power microscope, snagged the picture from Google images.
The giardia are tear drop shaped.
Here, in the white circle, is a picture from my own dear intestines.
There’s no mistaking that, is there? I mean to my untrained eye…that looks like the exact same thing as in the Google image. You can even see the nuclei on mine! It looks like eyes, but it’s not.
I also found a lot of cysts. The cysts are like the eggs of giardia. They have a special hard shell to protect them, then they are pooped out and consumed by some other mammal and they hatch.
Here is one of my cysts:
This is one from Google.
Another of my cysts:
I think this may be some of the little assholes too.
This has to be giardia, what else would it be?
I’ve been so sick for years and no doctors ever helped me figure this out. What rotten luck. I’m taking these pictures to the doctor on Monday. He’ll probably think I’m crazy, but I don’t care. He hasn’t writhed in excruciating pain and shat his brains out for years while being told to drink more water and eat more fiber.
The Poop Train stops here, folks.
This doctor had better prescribe me something to kill these things ASAP.
I’ve come up with an excellent battle plan.
First I will take the antibiotic from the doctor.
Then I will begin the treatment outlined by the naturopath I’m seeing. I’ve read that sometimes the antibiotic just knocks giardia back, that cysts can hide inside of you for up to ten years before hatching. I want it GONE. So I’m doing everything possible to rid of it. I’m terrified I will be left with long lasting gut damage, or worse the giardia will recur.
The naturopath has me taking a natural thing called Parafree. I ordered it today. It’s from Young Living.
She also has prescription strength homeopathic things for me. I’m iffy on the efficacy of homeopathy, but I’ve got pretty much nothing to lose here except for some cash, so I’ll try them. She also has some cell salts for me to take.
She told me to drink a tablespoon of aloe vera juice 3x a day and eat raw coconuts, as those have natural things to heal the gut and rid of parasites. I got aloe juice today from Whole Foods. (Well Tyler did, I’m not driving an hour there and shopping because I might poop in my pants. Just being honest here.)
I need advice for raw coconuts. Where do I buy them and how to do I eat them?!
On top of all of these things I’m also going to take a supplement called MSM. It’s some kind of natural form of sulfur or something, I can’t remember at the moment. The MSM coats your intestines, preventing cysts and adult parasites from being able to latch on. They just get flushed out and can’t hide. That sounds like a win to me!
The naturopath advised me to eat no sugar or dairy, and to avoid pork. Those are all things giardia thrives on.
Once I am no longer having giardia symptoms she will help me lay out a plan of nutritional supplements and help me figure out what to eat to replenish and heal my body. I’m looking forward to that. The parasite keeps your body from absorbing nutrients. I had it through three pregnancies and eight years of non-stop breastfeeding. I am sure to be desperately depleted of vitamins and minerals at this point. I feel really weak, sluggish, and achey.
That’s my whole plan. I desperately hope it is a success. I’m afraid to imagine what life without giardia would be like. I’ve had it for so long, I can’t even remember.
