They finally got started on the kitchen yesterday.
Before starting, but after we’d already cleaned everything out of the cabinets and off of the counters:
Our temporary kitchen. (Crock pot not pictured.)
The kitchen doorway, which my cats broke into overnight.
This is what’s inside the drop ceiling. He’s not sure now if he can eliminate the drop ceiling because it was hiding old wiring. He has to call the owner to see if he wants to pay for everything to be rewired or not. (The wires can’t be put down inside of the walls because they’re brick on the side where the wires need to run.) If it’s rewired then he can eliminate the drop ceiling, if not then he has to keep it. Ugly drop ceiling! I would much rather see the painted bead board up there!
The contractor swore this whole project would only take 1.5 to 2 weeks, but I’m guessing it may take much longer. Yesterday they worked all day, but today it’s already 11:15 and they haven’t shown up yet despite telling me they would be here first thing in the morning.
What are they doing? Some other project at another site? Frustrating! If you aren’t coming first thing in the morning then don’t say you are! Why is this so difficult?
Oh well. I’m planning steak on the electric skillet for dinner. I guess I’ll have to microwave the baked potatoes, which isn’t my favorite way to cook them but it will do. I could start a fire outside and wrap them in foil and stuff them in between the hot logs, haha! It’s pouring rain though.
