The Big Visa Appointment.
On Saturday all of the kids from Igor’s orphanage got to go bowling.
Igor is in the front row wearing dark blue.
The big visa appointment is Thursday the 28th at 9:30 in the morning Ukraine time. I think that’s during the night tonight (Wednesday night) American time.
I’m so nervous!!
The best news ever is that I have the wonderful coordinator of the host program on my side. She has visited Ukraine multiple times, adopted, hosted, knows the orphanage and the facilitators well, and she loves Igor. She is the one who chose him for hosting when she visited Ukraine, not knowing we were over here missing him. She has promised me she will do everything humanly possible to help us get Igor adopted.
If this all falls through and it’s not meant to be, then there is still hope. The coordinator has her own non-profit specifically to help children from the area who age out at 16 years old. That way they aren’t just on their own in poverty and falling victim to organized crime and sex slavery.
Anyway, big appointment tonight overnight!!!!
The kids are going to the appointment themselves. They get to drive about three hours on a bus to Kyiv to the US Embassy so they can appear. I know they are nervous and excited. On Skype yesterday Igor told me he was counting down the days until hosting.
The good thing about them going to the appointment is that if (God forbid) he does not get his visa he will know that it was a paperwork issue and it is certainly notbecause we didn’t want him or because we changed our mind.
That can’t happen though. He will get his visa. He will.
