Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!
I’m still trying to catch up on our vacation pictures and videos!
We had such a great time. Did I mention that?
On Tuesday of our vacation week we went to Universal Orlando to check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
SO EXCITING! I never thought I would be able to go there. Ever. A friend had connections who got us free Universal tickets. How awesome is that?
My parents watched Ada and Henry back at the rental house so that Tyler, Rosie, and I could go alone. Unfortunately that was the day Rosie came down with this awful cold virus, which put a damper on the second half of the day. But we still had fun checking out the park, and I also got to meet Ezzy for a few minutes on the way out!!
I took a ton of pictures of all the Harry Potter themed things. Loooooved it! I just used the point and shoot camera though, not my big professional one. I decided to focus on having fun rather than lugging around 10 lbs of very breakable and bulky equipment.
When we first walked into Universal Studios we met Woody Woodpecker…
The Knight Bus! This should be a ride…
The talking head heard Tyler calling my name, so then the talking head kept yelling, “Amy…AMY!” And Stan was even there, from the book/movie!
Olivander’s Wand Shop!
Rosie’s wand, which belonged to Sirius Black.
Wand shop view:
On top of Gringotts! She really breathes fire too!
At the bathroom…
Obligatory mirror selfie. Hah.
Inside of one of the dark arts shops…Borgin and Burke’s I think.
Daily Prophet, and a wilting Rosie…feeling worse as the day went on.
WE LOVED THIS RIDE!! (Even Rosie!)
Funny story: Before riding these rides you have to put your belongings in a locker. They tell you that the lockers are free for the first hour. When you get your stuff back out, then move on to another ride elsewhere in the park you find out that it wants you to pay after using a locker once even though you didn’t use a full hour the first time. It bases your info on your fingerprint to recognize if you’ve already used your free one.
Tyler was like, “What? I have ten fingers…” He just used a different finger at the next set of lockers and got another free use.
We ate lunch at The Leaky Cauldron.
This was inside…
Our food is in the video, which I’ll post at the bottom.
Rosie got ice cream afterward to help her sore throat.
I absolutely adore the detailed and eye pleasing scenery.
On to Hogwarts!!
She was eating her ice cream quickly while we were walking through crowds, haha!
The train ride is in the video…
Can I just live here??
Look, it’s a magical cloud shaped like a crab. Someone probably cast a spell on it.
I really wanted a Hedwig stuffed animal, but it was $30.
The castle! Hogwarts!
These few pictures are from my phone–
Selfie with Hogwarts!
These are also phone pictures from inside the castle…in line for the ride, which Rosie absolutely hated and spent the rest of the day moaning over. Whoops. Didn’t realize how turbulent it was. Tyler said it made him feel motion sick. I loved it and would ride it again and again.
The only bad part about the ride was that it had a technical difficulty and came to a screeching halt when we were suspended half upside down at a weird angle. That’s what initially freaked Rosie out. Then while I was leaning over to comfort her the ride suddenly came back on, and then jerked to a stop again and I smacked my face on the safety bar that was over my shoulders. Ouch.
Still a fun ride though. Since your feet dangling it feels like you’re really flying!
Here’s what’s inside the castle–wonderfully detailed just like everything else.
The sorting hat!
I don’t know what this was in relation to the books. Anyone know? Was it just a random skeleton? It was cool and very creepy. It was very dark in that part of the castle and my phone battery was too low to use flash…
Rosie was feeling really miserable after this ride, mainly because of the cold. I think the crazy ride and flipping upside down just pushed her over the edge. She begged to go home, so we left a bit early.
I got one souvenir! Dobby! (This was taken back at our rental house.)
If you love HP check out the video of our day. It’s mainly views of the shops and what we ate at The Leaky Cauldron, plus the train ride to Hogwarts.
