half heard in the stillness-- between two waves of the sea.

Rosie’s Birthday & Unrelated Photos. 0

Rosie’s Birthday & Unrelated Photos.

Today (the 19th) is Rosie’s birthday.  I can’t believe she’s 7!  I’ll make her own entry about her birthday.  We’re having family over for a small party on Saturday night.  We’re hoping to roast hot dogs over the fire if it’s not raining.  Since we live out here we have a big fire circle lined with field stone and we can have campfires every night.  So much fun to roast your dinner on sticks or stick foil packets of seasoned veggies...

Close Call.

I’m in love with the bunnies.  I did not expect to like them this much.  Someone help me! They’re just so…I don’t know what the word for it is.  They don’t snuggle, but they hop around and are very playful.  They’re incredibly adorable and full of personality. Best of all they’re actually bonding with us, unlike a hamster or some other small furry pet.  They actually recognize us and are happy to see us.   Tonight Ada apparently opened the crate...

More of the Bunnies!

This afternoon the girls and I were upstairs in the playroom sitting on that wooden window bench when a storm started to blow up over the ridge. I’ve been trying to convince Rosie that most storms are harmless.  She has a tad bit of my anxiety.  Not specifically over storms, but over anything.  :( As I was point out the cool lightening we could see in the clouds and telling her it was just a boring thunderstorm with nothing to panic...

The Bunnies!

It just took almost 45 minutes for the text box to load on this page. I swear there is some conspiracy going on out here.  No TV channels come in except for a local Fox station.  Cell phones (of all carriers) get no reception or poor and spotty reception that randomly disappears for long periods of time.  3G/4G/LTE doesn’t work on any carrier except AT&T and it’s unreliable, spotty, and very slow.  Even the home phone line we broke down and...

Bicycle, Bicycle: The Movie! 3

Bicycle, Bicycle: The Movie!

Look at this video I made of Rosie learning to ride her bike for the first time! I made it with my 5d Mark II instead of the iPhone.  It was fun, I’ll have to practice making more videos with it. Rosie thinks the part with Ada at the end is the best, she laughs so hard every time she watches it. (It should be HD quality and is on YouTube, but when I post it on the entry...

Right. 1

Right.

It’s…July! JULY. I might have a baby in the month of July. “Might” being the key word of course.  His official due date based on the dating ultrasound is the 1st of August.  Rosie and Ada were both born at 39 weeks, but watch this little guy fake me out and make me wait until 42 weeks or something.  That would continue the trend of this being the longest pregnancy ever. I’m hoping for July 27 or 28.  Rosie’s due date...

Fiber Farm. 0

Fiber Farm.

Yesterday our homeschool co-op took a field trip to a fiber farm, which happened to be at my neighbor’s house!  It was a neighbor I’ve never met.  She lives on the street behind ours, up on the ridge top.  Over the hill there’s one cabin, some woods, and one farm between her’s and mine. She was very nice!  She has an 1800’s log cabin that they fully restored and filled with 1800’s era things.  So neat. She put Ada in the...

Realities.

This quote pretty much sums it all up–though lately just getting up in the morning has been the most difficult part! “I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.” -E.B. White Between this extra exhausting pregnancy and moving I am totally worn out.  The girls have yet another cold, somehow, despite hardly leaving the cabin lately.  I’m just waiting to come down with...

Luna Moth. 2

Luna Moth.

Yesterday I was having a bad morning.  As in, everything possible was going wrong. I went outside on my porch to sulk in a rocking chair and look what fluttered up and landed on the cabin wall right by my head! A gorgeous male luna moth! They’re fairly rare.  I’ve always wanted to see a live one and never have.  They hatch, mate for about 24 hours, then lay their eggs at the base of black walnut trees. They have no...

Sweet Baby Boy! 1

Sweet Baby Boy!

For my birthday (which is in June coming up) my grandma paid for one last ultrasound. Just a last sneak peek at Baby H before August!  I’m so glad we did it, I loved seeing his face. The ultrasound tech said he’s very long and “good sized”, and his chest looks fluffy and chubby too. He also has hair!  She said he’s taking up every inch inside, which would be why I was up all last night unable to breathe. There’s...
