The Demise of Benny Duck. 0

The Demise of Benny Duck.

We had a tragedy over here the other night. Benny was fine when I went out in the snow and wind to put the roosters up for the night.  (I put the roosters in a dog crate covered with a thick rubber backed rug in the garage to block their crows in the morning for the neighbors.  It works very well.) Benny got injured while we were at the beach back in October.  He got a random string wrapped around his...

Allergy Testing Results & Pictures. 4

Allergy Testing Results & Pictures.

The allergy testing for Ada yesterday afternoon wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. When Rosie had it done at age four she cried and sobbed through the pricks. Ada on the other hand…laughed.  Why am I not surprised?  Typical Ada. (Ada also loves the finger prick for iron testing because she gets to see her “real blood!” and she gets a bandaid.) We also go to weigh and measure her, which hasn’t been done in awhile.  She...

Ultrasound Day! 5

Ultrasound Day!

Look!! (Profile facing downward, spine on the top right with the heart, legs stretching out on the bottom left.) Long, long legs!  Little froggy. Can you see any between the legs bits here?? What about this 3D view?  (That’s not a hole in the head, it’s just a part the computer didn’t pick up.) Look at the little fingers! Hi!  Baby skull face! The sex of the baby was definitely not a mystery! It kept….popping up. He’s headless in this picture....

First day of co-op and a few pictures. 0

First day of co-op and a few pictures.

We had our first day of the Charlotte Mason homeschool co-op yesterday. It went very well!  The only downside was they actually intended for me to be the helper in the 4/5 year old class and not Ada’s 2/3 class.  Ada wouldn’t stay in the 2/3 class without me.  To be fair I had promised her we would stay in the same class together. I tried leaving her in there and she just stood in the same spot and sobbed silently....

Possums, Co-op, and Photos. 0

Possums, Co-op, and Photos.

I need some kind of possum repellant spray. These ugly beasts (or Tools of Satan as we jokingly call them) are terrorizing my backyard!  They have ripped the heads off of a few hens over the past few years, and they love to steal eggs.  This past summer they ate an entire nest of duck eggs that were close to hatching.  Poor Mama Duck was panting and paralyzed with fear in the corner next to her nest under the chicken coop....

Winter Hosting Update. 1

Winter Hosting Update.

Everyone has been asking me about winter hosting! I was so busy and miserable from this pregnancy that I wasn’t able to update while he was here.  It went pretty well, but he was not a fit for our family.  The good news is we found the family that he belongs to and they have already started the adoption process!  He isn’t available just yet, but I believe they do have an official availability date. The reason I haven’t posted any...

The Ultrasound! 9

The Ultrasound!

I had my ultrasound appointment today. The appointment was at 9:45 and I took Ada with me.  I was so nervous! As luck would have it they seemed to forget about me in the waiting room.  Everyone else sitting out there got called, new people came in and sat down and got called 10 minutes later. FINALLY at 11:10 they called my name.  Ada was practically climbing the walls and we were so hungry!  (They don’t allow food and drink in...

Winter Dance Recital. 0

Winter Dance Recital.

Rosie had her winter dance recital on Friday night.  Tyler couldn’t go because he had to work.  I hate that he never is able to take days off, he has to miss all of these things. Rosie did a really good job dancing this year.  Her dance class is just for fun, it’s not strict competition dance or anything.  They only practice one evening a week.  Ada absolutely cannot wait until she’s old enough to take dance class!  I think she...

7 Days! 0

7 Days!

My insurance woes continue. They sent us two letters in the mail this week. One listed Tyler, Amy, Rosie, and Ada as covered by insurance from September 17th, 2012 to January 1st, 2013.  (Yay!!) The second letter listed Tyler, Amy, Rosie, and Ada as covered by insurance from January 2013 to January 2014.  (More yay!) Tyler called them to double check that my issues had been resolved since they never gave him the confirmation phone call they’d promised.  The lady on...

Miracle and The Crazy Christmas House. 1

Miracle and The Crazy Christmas House.

I am beginning to realize several things. 1) God does actually hear my prayers. 2) God prefers to answer my prayers at the last minute.  Why? I don’t know, but hosting for some reason is full of crazy non-coincidences. I’ve been desperately praying for something to happen to make it so that I can pick up Igor in Louisville, 1.5 hours from my house, instead of the huge grueling road trip to Atlanta at 8 weeks pregnant. I had given up...
