Winter Sun & Parenting Fail. 0

Winter Sun & Parenting Fail.

Parenting fail of the day yesterday: It was 60 degrees and sunny out yesterday afternoon, so we went to the park. Gorgeous winter sunlight. Just what everyone needs–a dose of vitamin D and fresh air.  Soak it up. The girls ran and ran.  In fact they did almost nothing but run! Rosie wouldn’t even stop to let me take her picture.  How dare a five year old want to have fun rather than be photographed by her mother.  Tsk. Clearly no one...

A quick study of Ada at 20 months: 5 minutes in the tub.

This morning we did all of our school plans for the day–Rosie wanted to focus for some reason.  I’m not complaining!  We did our morning board, where we write the day of the week, the date in two forms, the day of school we’re on, the weather, etc.  Then we did a math worksheet about different ways to add up the number five.  Math is Rosie’s hardest subject. We learned about the parts of a fish and how fish are different...

Another night of absolutely no sleep. Is this some kind of test to see what level of endurance I have?  Really? We took a nap for an hour earlier, which made me feel a tad better.  I wish she’d stay asleep longer than an hour though. This is how her face looks at midnight.  Prepare yourself. WHO NEEDS TO SLEEP WHEN YOU ARE THIS HAPPY ALL NIGHT!!!11!1!!!!!!1!! Yesterday I let them play outside in the freezing cold wind for quite awhile.  You’d think that...

January Sunshine. 1

January Sunshine.

Rosie didn’t do dance class last semester because I thought she wasn’t getting that much out of it. That proved to be a mistake since she asked why she wasn’t going to dance class EVERY single day all fall.  So this semester, she’s back at it sponsored by my mother-in-law.  Today was the first class and she was so very excited.  She insisted on wearing her heart tights instead of the standard white ones everyone else wears. Here she is ready to...

New Year’s Day: 55 and sunny outside…! The girls went outside to play in the new house they got for Christmas. This picture is like Ada all summed up in one snapshot.  Crooked grin, hammer swinging, chipped front tooth, pure happy. It was extremely windy out.  Cooler air on the way! Big blue eyes!  (Ignore the muddy dog prints. I give up during winter.) They look so happy, don’t they? I’m afraid I’m not being a very good mother to them right...

Food Allergies & An Afternoon with Friends. 1

Food Allergies & An Afternoon with Friends.

Note: The first half of the entry (the writing) is about Ada’s stomach virus, and poop vs. my food allergies.  If you’re eating or that offends you, you may want to skip to the cute kid pictures below.   Ada had her first stomach virus on Wednesday. She woke up at 5 in the morning and burped then choked a little, and spewed.  Thankfully it was all breastmilk, but still. She threw up all morning and all afternoon.  It was so...

Reflections on Six Years of Marriage. 4

Reflections on Six Years of Marriage.

We were trying to set up the Christmas tree yesterday afternoon, but no one could concentrate. You know, in just a couple days and one month I will have been married to this man for six years.   While we’ve had some serious rough patches, we are in a great place now.   Seriously.  I can’t believe how lucky I am to be married to him.   Of course no relationship is perfect, there will always be minor gripes.   Sometimes I try...

This little guy is in the dog house.   I am so sick and tired of cleaning up his pee from various objects in my house! I don’t understand it.  He will get up and pee somewhere in the house at night then come back to bed. He pees in random places when we aren’t looking, on things like the kids’ toys or a basket of clean folded laundry. This morning he peed on the bottom drawer of my stove and it...

Leading up to Halloween… (Photos)

One of the last warm days of the fall, last week: My favorite old hen.  She lost her toes to frost bite while I was pregnant with Ada.   My 50mm 1.4 lens is officially broken.  Ada knocked it out of my bag when I turned my back for a second and now the auto focus is all fuzzy. I’m going to send it off for repair one day, when I have the money. See how it looks?  It doesn’t focus reliably in the...
