Pictures and Videos from my Phone

Just to be more clear, in the previous entry the issues I was referring to are Igors and not specifically our issues. Though I guess in some ways his issues ARE our issues since he’s part of our family. The harshness of his life at the orphanage has really traumatized him. Did I never post these pictures? I looked back and didn’t see them! They start on June 15th. At the hotel pool. Spent a long, long time there. Henry swimming...

He’s Here!

Tyler: You’re forcing me to adopt a Ukrainian teenage boy, and I love it. What have you done to me? Igor is 11 this year. We first met him when he was 8! It’s like he never left. Are there even any words?? We went swimming in a pool that belongs to my in-laws’ friends this afternoon as soon as Tyler and Igor arrived from the airport. Henry can swim. Igor took this picture of me and the one of Rosie....

Another Kitchen Update, With Pictures.

I took a few new pictures of the kitchen this morning. It’s glorious. Behold! (Sorry, too lazy to retake it due to blur. Henry was grabbing my legs.) None of those things in the floor are mine, that’s all contractor junk. I just love that we have to step around nails, saws, nail gun, etc. Very safe for babies and children. Let’s move on to the exquisite drywall work. Now keep in mind they tore down the walls completely and rebuilt...

The Big Visa Appointment.

On Saturday all of the kids from Igor’s orphanage got to go bowling. Igor is in the front row wearing dark blue. The big visa appointment is Thursday the 28th at 9:30 in the morning Ukraine time. I think that’s during the night tonight (Wednesday night) American time. I’m so nervous!! The best news ever is that I have the wonderful coordinator of the host program on my side. She has visited Ukraine multiple times, adopted, hosted, knows the orphanage and...

Kitchenless: Day 84.

Well, day 84 has brought us to a minor amount of progress. Somehow they have managed to put up drywall, mud the drywall, put in the sink (which has hot water only at the moment, but water none the less), and install cabinets. However the cabinets they chose don’t match exactly. They’re used. They are pretty similar at least. Here’s my favorite part: The threw away the old water damaged cabinets and replaced them with less water damaged cabinets. I’m not...

Henry: 21 Months Old.

A few quick snapshots of Henry at the park last night… He is fearless when it comes to tall play structures and slides. He requires no assistance, and unfortunately he goes into tribal caveman mode and tries to shove other kids out of his way because they are too slow. ”Look Ma! No hairs!”

Henry Photos: 20 Months Old.

I never got time to post these! They’re from a few weeks ago. He is hardcore obsessed with his two blankies. He has this sniffly noise he makes that means blankie. Somehow we have started referring to them as his snuggle-up’s. He completely freaks out if he doesn’t have them while nursing, or if we leave the house and he finds himself in the car without them available on demand. I mean really, freak out is probably an understatement for what...

The Full Story (of Igor, Forever & Ever.)

Look who it is!! An online friend I met through the hosting group (Children’s Cultural Connection) arrived at Igor’s orphanage to adopt her summer host siblings. She posted this picture of Igor for me. He was on his way to school this morning when they got there. All of the kids in Ukraine dress up in suits and white shirts for school. It’s part of their culture. Igor looks so happy! I’m not sure if they told him who the picture...

TOO MUCH SNOW! 0

March’s Blizzard.

The snow is insane. We usually get 2-3 inches at a time. Five inches here is considered a lot of snow. This time…we got about 18-20 inches in 24 hours. Insane My county has done a really good job of clearing the roads. We aren’t typically prepared for so much snow, so our county only owns four plows for hundreds of miles of road, but this time they hired private workers to plow. The Toyota factory has miraculously let workers not...

Frozen Snow! 0

Last Week’s Snow.

We just got blanketed by a ton of snow. Probably one of the biggest snow falls we’ve ever had around here in years. I think we got more than 15 inches! It’s heavy wet snow too, so the trees are all bent over. Luckily we haven’t had power outages. I can’t wait to take the kids out in it to play once Henry wakes up from his nap! Here are pictures of the kids standing on the frozen over snow last...
