I’m ready to share these now.

Apparently the moving costs will be a reimbursement given 3-4 weeks after moving. There goes my plan to paint and fix the floors prior to moving in. Frustrating! If we weren’t cashing in the 401k or didn’t have that to cash in then we wouldn’t be able to afford to move. Is a reimbursement standard!? Do most people just have thousands of dollars laying around to afford a moving truck down the interstate?? The only good thing is the reimbursement will...

The Full Story (of Igor, Forever & Ever.)

Look who it is!! An online friend I met through the hosting group (Children’s Cultural Connection) arrived at Igor’s orphanage to adopt her summer host siblings. She posted this picture of Igor for me. He was on his way to school this morning when they got there. All of the kids in Ukraine dress up in suits and white shirts for school. It’s part of their culture. Igor looks so happy! I’m not sure if they told him who the picture...

TOO MUCH SNOW! 0

March’s Blizzard.

The snow is insane. We usually get 2-3 inches at a time. Five inches here is considered a lot of snow. This time…we got about 18-20 inches in 24 hours. Insane My county has done a really good job of clearing the roads. We aren’t typically prepared for so much snow, so our county only owns four plows for hundreds of miles of road, but this time they hired private workers to plow. The Toyota factory has miraculously let workers not...

Frozen Snow! 0

Last Week’s Snow.

We just got blanketed by a ton of snow. Probably one of the biggest snow falls we’ve ever had around here in years. I think we got more than 15 inches! It’s heavy wet snow too, so the trees are all bent over. Luckily we haven’t had power outages. I can’t wait to take the kids out in it to play once Henry wakes up from his nap! Here are pictures of the kids standing on the frozen over snow last...

Snow Dog! 0

White Stuff.

It really snowed! Leave it to Ada to lock us out of the house when it’s 10 degrees outside with a foot of snow on the ground. We were going to go out and play for just a few minutes. Our old Victorian door knob has this strange lock where you push a button on the door jamb area of the door to turn the lock on. It stays locked and you can open the door from the inside, but once...

Mummy!

Last Saturday we went to Cincinnati to see the mummy exhibit. It was fascinating. Unfortunately they didn’t allow pictures in the exhibit, which made me sad. They had mummies from Egypt, mummies that were naturally formed due to heat and acidic bogs and so on, and more recent people who had been mummified somehow when they were entombed in church crypts. Rosie was enthralled. Ada was kind of horrified. Henry kept pointing and saying, “Rawr!” Then doing his fake scream. Tyler...

Rainbow of cupcakes for a fourth birthday. 0

Lauren’s 4th Birthday.

I am mighty jealous of all the snow I keep seeing on Facebook and on the news. We’ve gotten basically nothing. We did get a couple of inches that quickly melted with the sun a week or so ago. Then yesterday they changed our forecasted snowstorm to rain. We got tons of ugly cold rain. Sad. There’s not a single flake in the forecast coming up. We’ve been denied any fun snowfall for this winter it seems. My kids are disappointed....

Best Friends Forever.

Here are a few pictures from my phone from recently: Sunny day mud pie! Toes in the mud. Kept taking off his boots and socks until I gave up. The boy feels an unavoidable urge to reach all of the electronics and push all of their buttons, no matter what. His sisters did this. They also did this to him. The first snow of the winter on Saturday morning, which has already melted. This is the view from my kitchen window....

Big Fat Snow Flakes Falling. 0

Snowy.

This morning someone rang our doorbell at 7 a.m., when it was still dark out. Tyler stumbled out of bed because the dogs started barking and the baby started crying. He went downstairs and opened the door only to find someone wanting to shovel the snow on our sidewalk for booze money. In the dark. On Saturday morning. Are you kidding? By then the baby was awake. The dogs wanted to go out. The sun wasn’t even up yet. I don’t...

My sweet goofball. 0

A brief respite from the cold.

We’ve been enjoying the warmer weather lately. For the past two days it’s been in the mid 50’s with sun! I am so ready for spring. We’ve had no snow this winter, just lots and lots of ugly gray days with freezing temps and just-above-freezing rain. Yuck. The kids have played outside for hours during the past couple of days. Sun. SUN! And Ada with her short hairs!! Excuse his crusty nose. He’s had his first cold ever and I practically...
