The Story of How Henry Arrived. 3

The Story of How Henry Arrived.

People keep asking me about the story of Henry’s birth. All I can tell you is that it was nothing like Ada’s birth. Henry was like a freight train barreling through my body on his way to entering the world. It hurt.  A lot.  There was so much sheer power and force.  It was unreal. I’m not sure I’ve processed the whole experience just yet. Henry was four or five days overdue, depending on which due date you chose to go...

In a flash– 9

In a flash–

Her fate seizes her and brings her down. She is heavy with it. It wrings her. The great weight is heaved out of her. It eases. She moves into what she has become, sure in her fate now as a fish free in the current. She turns to the calf who has broken out of the womb’s water and its veil. He breathes. She licks his wet hair. He gathers his legs under him and rises. He stands, and his legs...

The Peace of the Wild Things. 6

The Peace of the Wild Things.

40 weeks, 1 day. I feel like we’re in limbo just waiting for him to show up at some unknown hour. Other than the anticipation of his arrival, I’m actually feeling much better than I have this entire pregnancy.  I still feel nauseated, but I have energy!  I feel happy.  Not like a lethargic, miserable lump.  Well at least not most of the time. I still have my moments. Tonight I went for a hike through the hills behind the cabin...

Rosie’s Birthday! 0

Rosie’s Birthday!

I had my midwife appointment today.  Baby H is all happy and snug down in there. Rosie and Ada were so active in the womb–both of them kicked, flip flopped around, jabbed me, poked me, and even did something that felt like clawing me to pieces.  Baby H doesn’t do any of that.  He just wiggles and pokes his butt up. I imagine he thinks my womb is his man cave.  I’m certain he’s in there chilling out.  He stretches and...

39 weeks, 5 days: We have a winner.

Baby H wins the award of baby who has stayed inside the longest! Now that he’s won maybe he will come out.  ;) My due date is on Thursday.  I see no signs that he’s planning on coming out before then.  He seems quite content to chill out in the belly. With both Rosie and Ada I had tons more prodromal labor and I was walking around completely miserable, dilated, and ready to pop the baby out any second from 38...

Lumpy Eyes.

I was 39 weeks yesterday!  (My ticker is off by a day.) Rosie was born by now.  Ada still had three days to go.  I wonder what Baby H will choose… This morning I woke up feeling not pregnant at all.  Like full of energy, not even sick.  Weird?  I think I remember this happening right before Rosie was born also.  With Ada I never felt that horrible, so it wasn’t as big of a deal. Today was apparently nesting day....

Realities.

This quote pretty much sums it all up–though lately just getting up in the morning has been the most difficult part! “I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.” -E.B. White Between this extra exhausting pregnancy and moving I am totally worn out.  The girls have yet another cold, somehow, despite hardly leaving the cabin lately.  I’m just waiting to come down with...

Sweet Baby Boy! 1

Sweet Baby Boy!

For my birthday (which is in June coming up) my grandma paid for one last ultrasound. Just a last sneak peek at Baby H before August!  I’m so glad we did it, I loved seeing his face. The ultrasound tech said he’s very long and “good sized”, and his chest looks fluffy and chubby too. He also has hair!  She said he’s taking up every inch inside, which would be why I was up all last night unable to breathe. There’s...

More Life Out Here!

After five (yes, count them FIVE) long calls to Windstream and two tech visits to my house the internet is working again.  Who knows how long it will last.  It’s slow, but I don’t care as long as it comes on. The issue seems to be that the firmware in my modem–the new modem they gave us–needed to be updated, but no one told me until call number five. Why would it take five different people and two different techs to tell...

Things and Things. 1

Things and Things.

I am completely overwhelmed by moving and keeping up with daily chores. Moving is going ever so slowly.  It pours rain all day for the one day off Tyler has each week.  Every single week since we’ve had the lease! We can’t seem to get the fencing set up, which means we can’t move out there for good because we can’t leave the animals here alone.  I’m so frustrated! I wish Tyler could just take a week off, but he doesn’t...
