Beach, Part Two.

Check this out! This is a fossilized sea urchin. It’s so old that it lived at the same time as the dinosaurs! I know this because I posted it on a fossil hunter forum. They told me its scientific name and that it lived in the late mesozoic era. (I think that’s what they said, too lazy to look back at the moment.) Rosie found it in the ocean because she tripped and fell in a wave, then it hit her...

Beach!

Last week was spent at the beach. It was good. We went to Holden Beach, NC. It’s about an hour from the popular and commercial Myrtle Beach area. Holden Beach is actually an island. It’s quiet and sleepy. When we arrived on Labor Day weekend there were a few small crowds, but as the week started everyone left and there was hardly another person around. Rosie and Ada met several friends on the beach. One little girl Rebecca, really hit it...

The 8th Birthday.

Today Rosie turned eight years old. Can you believe it has been that many years since she was born? Once, I found myself 19 and pregnant and not knowing what the future would hold. Then I found myself 19 and married. What a trip that has been. But now, here we are. Eight years later! Tomorrow we’re having a cookout for Rosie’s birthday. Tomorrow night we are meeting with the pastor of the Ukrainian church, nicknamed the secret agent of medicine,...

Whirlwind.

My baby! Oh how I do love him so! Cannot get enough. Oh yeah, these other kids of mine are pretty fun too… “Why are you hanging upside down off the earth like a bat?” Rosie took this one of the Easter Bunny, and the ones with me in them too. Go home Easter Bunny, you’re drunk! The edge of my front porch. The girls like to do school work out there. I’m so busy I just don’t know how to...

Somethings Happy.

Here are some happy pictures from yesterday and today. These were from a walk around the block yesterday afternoon. These are from the cemetery today. It’s beautiful this time of year, despite being a cemetery. My mom took the pictures with me in them. I laughed so hard when I saw Henry’s face here. “Dada! That’s my Mama. What are you doing to her!” These are just funny. This is what my family looks like at any given moment, basically. There are quite...

Goat Milking & Pictures from the beginning of December. 1

Goat Milking & Pictures from the beginning of December.

I’m goat sitting for my friend while her family is on vacation. She lives about 20 minutes away from me, which means out here she’s sort of my neighbor. It takes 15 minutes just to get up out of the area where I live to go anywhere. She has 16 goats. I’m milking one goat twice daily, and another goat is due to give birth any second! Her udder filled with milk a few days ago, which is a sign labor...

Ada’s First Hair Cut, The End of October, & Other Pictures.

Here are some pictures from recently. I can’t remember which ones I’ve posted before. I think this was the week before Halloween: Kitten is obsessed with the faucet in the bathroom. Henry dressed in cute clothes. I feel like he’s so much bigger than this now, even though it was just a few weeks ago! And you can see his torticollis here. His head was stuck in that position. Thank goodness that’s fixed mostly. This was the Saturday morning before Halloween....

Halloween Photos.

We had to carve our pumpkin without Tyler this year since he was at work. We didn’t have time to do it beforehand, and we were running out of days before Halloween! I decided to try using the drill. It went…ok. Rosie designed the pumpkin and I carved it. This is when the drill ran out of batteries before we did the last whiskers. All lit up! Our town changed trick or treating to the 1st of November since we had...

4 weeks & 2 days.

These coyotes! Last night once I finally got to sleep, after multiple children waking up, the coyotes decided it would be a great time to yip, yowl, and howl for an hour right behind my cabin. That made my dogs bark inside, along with the neighbor’s livestock dog which is 100+ pounds and has a very echoey booming bark. We have this tiny hunting flashlight that lights up about five acres of pitch black darkness out here.  It highlights the glowing...

Two Weeks & Three Days.

Today was kind of a stressful day.  Apparently I cannot make a relaxed, chill baby. I guess there’s always hope for a fourth baby to be an “easy” one?  Haha! I can do everything while holding the baby except for cook.  And I am hungry.  Really hungry.  Thus, frustration. (Well I don’t hold him while I use the bathroom either, but that only takes a minute.  Cooking takes a bit more time.) Rosie loves holding him, but he screams unless he...
