First Start Reading from Memoria Press: A Review.

This week I will be posting reviews of two different homeschooling things. Today’s post is a review of First Start Reading from Memoria Press. Ada, who is almost five, helped me review this one. Tomorrow’s review is for Rosie’s age group, third grade and up, of something we found fun and educational at the same time. On to the topic of today’s review: Ada is nearing the age of beginning kindergarten work. She has been less eager to start reading than Rosie...

Lord Heritage HomeSchool Office: A Review

What exactly, you may wonder, is a “homeschool office”?  And why would you need one? Well friends, I wondered the exact same things, which is why I am now reviewing a year’s subscription to Lord Heritage HomeSchool Office for you. Lord Heritage has created a very thorough spreadsheet type of program specifically for homeschool record keeping and schedule creating. If you are a Type A sort of person this will be right up your alley.  Basically this is a total homeschool...

GPALOVEMATH: An Online Math Program Review.

For the past six weeks the girls and I have been using a math program called GPALOVEMATH. Math is a difficult subject for my 8.5 year old. She’s great at reading and writing, but struggles with math. We were offered this fully online math program to review and I thought, why not? I’m constantly in search of a type of math program that will “click” with her brain and suddenly make math interesting for her.   The math program is created...

Visual Learning Systems: An Online Digital Science Review.

I’ve mentioned before that we’re loosely Charlotte Mason style homeschoolers, right? For Charlotte Mason style science we have been doing nature study with water color paintings. This past year I’d been looking for something with more complex explanations to hopefully catch my 8 year old’s curiosity when it comes to nature and science. When the Schoolhouse Review Crew offered us a chance to review Visual Learning Systems Digital Science Online I jumped at the chance! Reviewers received access to all the...

Here are my goofballs exploring the package. Egglo Entertainment sent us a package containing: Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure book Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls Egglo Bible Verse Stickers The Egglo Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt Event Curriculum (PDF download) At first...

Audio Drama: A review for The Schoolhouse Review Crew by Halfheard in the Stillness. 0

In Freedom’s Cause: A Review.

In our homeschool we use a lot of Charlotte Mason’s methods. I adore Charlotte Mason! This past year has been a big challenge for us since Charlotte Mason style schooling involves so much reading together and discussing. Henry, as the adorable and terrible toddler he is, does not make reading aloud and talking very easy. In desperation I stepped back from pure Charlotte Mason style and instead let Rosie do some workbooks, which surprisingly she loved. When The School House Review...

SchoolhouseTeachers.com Yearly Membership: A Review!

The following is a review of SchoolHouseTeachers.com Yearly Membership for The Schoolhouse Review Crew. Let me be honest here–this review is actually what I thought of the website. If you’ve been reading this blog long enough you’ll know I am overly honest and detailed…ahem… So let’s get on with it: One of the best things about homeschooling is the ability to explore different subjects with my kids. I love learning, investigating, and gathering information! (You would never have guessed that, would you?) Unfortunately...

Creative Nature Study: A Book Review.

Anyone who’s been around the block with me probably knows how I feel about nature and the great outdoors. (Hint: LOVE/ADORE/UTTER FASCINATION) Strangely enough, my two girls aren’t the biggest nature fans. Why? I’m not sure. I guess we’ll have to chock that one up to inherent traits they were born with, because it surely is not for lack of exposure and encouragement on my part. This week I was given the chance to review a book from The Old School House...
