Igor Videos!

I have things to write about, but it’s already 2:15 in the morning. I need to hurry up and go to sleep. I was exhausted all day today. I have to get up at 5:30 in the morning because Baby E (daycare baby) gets here quite early. I am not a morning person. I get my second wind at night around 10:30 and I’m happy to stay up half the night soaking up the (mostly) alone time while the kids sleep....

October in Pictures.

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks of October that I never got around to posting…at least not that I can remember. Rosie wrote this letter in Russian to Max. Every time we host each kid gets a welcome letter from their new family to read (or be read to them) on the plane. Rosie is super excited about Max, so she wrote him the welcome letter all by herself. Ada bathed the baby guinea pigs one afternoon. These...

How to Survive the Grocery Store with Three Kids! (Vlog)

Our latest vlog post! The kids begged me to vlog a trip to the grocery store. I’m still not completely sure why they think this is so fun, but whatever. I need to get a nicer video camera than just my phone, and professionally edit my videos, and and and…wait. I can’t afford that. ;)

Dear Everyone:

Today’s post comes to you in the form of three vlogs. Henry’s attempts to be just like his daddy: Henry’s Very Second Haircut And…my kids being themselves. (There’s one part in this where I say “gas station” but for some reason it sounds like ass station, and now my husband keeps making fun of me.)

Tapple & Wonky: A Review of Two Fun Family Games!

This review is purely for fun! USAopoly sent us two of their games to review. Wonky: The Crazy Cubes Card Game and… Tapple – Fast Word Fun For the Whole Family       I’ll start with Wonky first, since it was the first one we opened up and played.   The game is listed for two or more players, and ages 8+. (However, my five year old was able to play it just fine!)  The basic premise of the game...

Video.

It still feels like someone is missing from our home. Everything is too quiet. Too easy. Tyler and I made a video slideshow of our summer with Igor. (Click on the video to watch it full screen and in HD!) Monday the kids are starting (home)school. I need to finish finally unpacking our house and get us into a normal routine. Life continues on. We got word that Igor’s bio family picked him up once he got back to Ukraine today....

At the Zoo

This weekend we went to the zoo with Igor. Rosie hates it because Igor demands all of the attention, constantly talking and trying to make us go faster, then complaining that he’s tired, or hot, or his belly hurts… We have a zoo membership, so I had to keep reminding the girls that we can come back next week and walk as slow as we want! Here are a few random videos I made of Igor at the zoo, just for...

Pictures and Videos from my Phone

Just to be more clear, in the previous entry the issues I was referring to are Igors and not specifically our issues. Though I guess in some ways his issues ARE our issues since he’s part of our family. The harshness of his life at the orphanage has really traumatized him. Did I never post these pictures? I looked back and didn’t see them! They start on June 15th. At the hotel pool. Spent a long, long time there. Henry swimming...

Kitchen Disaster Update.

Yesterday the property manager stopped by to see the kitchen. First time he’s been here to check on it since the insurance adjuster was here more than 70 days ago. He is very hard to read, but I think he was horrified at the disaster. All he said was, “I’m so sorry.” Twice. Then Tyler asked him what he thought was going on with the contractor and the property manager said, “That’s what I’m going to find out.” Then he walked...

The Full Story (of Igor, Forever & Ever.)

Look who it is!! An online friend I met through the hosting group (Children’s Cultural Connection) arrived at Igor’s orphanage to adopt her summer host siblings. She posted this picture of Igor for me. He was on his way to school this morning when they got there. All of the kids in Ukraine dress up in suits and white shirts for school. It’s part of their culture. Igor looks so happy! I’m not sure if they told him who the picture...
